guidelines & faqs

is it compulsory to do every day?

not at all! feel free to pick out one prompt, or several, that seem fun or challenging! we do have dedicated participants who enjoy completing as many prompts as possible, but that’s up to you. like we said, poetry is fun – no need to make writing become an obligation!

are late entries accepted?

of course 😊 we’ll let you know exactly when we’ll stop adding poems to our moments or retweeting them, as the event draws to a close.

so how do i participate?

tweet your poem (as an image, in the tweet, as a google doc link, whatever you like!) with the hashtag #hqpowrimo! you may also prefer to quote retweet our prompt, so it’s easier for people to see what inspired your poem. and since lowering the net is all about accessibility, we highly encourage you to check out our accessibility guide for some tips and links!

are there any other guidelines?

be considerate! that’s all we ask. for example, no plagiarism, ship hate, or harassment will be tolerated.

we know that poetry can often be emotionally fraught or intense, or cover heavy topics. if you think something may be triggering, consider adding a content warning to the tweet text so it can be muted. if you are using images to share your poem on twitter, you can also mark the image as sensitive content.

3 quick questions
